Since 1997, Urban Assembly schools have been deeply rooted in the communities and districts they serve, with intensive student support and meaningful partnerships at the heart of every school we have founded.
Our unscreened schools serve approximately 8,000 students each year. Eighty-three percent identify as Black or Latine, 83% come from low-income households and 25% have special education needs. Our students bring tremendous strengths and potential while often navigating systemic barriers to educational opportunity.
With a 2024–25 graduation rate of 91.7%—10.5 percentage points above the citywide rate—UA schools demonstrate what is possible when every student receives the opportunities and support they deserve. UA students outperform citywide graduation rates across every reported student group, with especially significant advantages for multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
Beyond our school network, Urban Assembly reaches thousands of additional New York City students each year through programs that bring our proven approaches to more schools and communities.
